Pacifica Chamber Orchestra: The orchestra has announced its 2022-23 season. The Opening Concert, set for Oct. 1 at Zion Lutheran Church, 4634 Alger Ave., Everett, will feature pieces by Lou Harrison, Heino Eller and Ottorino Respighi. Black Lab Gallery: Art by Ben Darby will be featured at the monthly Everett Art Walk at 5-9 p.m. Aug. 18. Darby grew up in San Diego and Seattle and graduated from Cornish College in 1994. He has shown at many galleries around the United States, including Bryan Ohno and Linda Hodges in Seattle. Darby’s medium is acrylic-based paint on canvas. Many of the 3-D elements protruding from the paintings were poured into a mold, allowed to harden, and then attached to the painting. Black Lab Gallery is located at 1801 Hewitt Ave., Everett.
Fresh Paint: Watch artists at work and purchase art fresh off the easel at the Schack Art Center’s biggest summer arts festival. Cascadia Art Museum: Ongoing through November is “The Art of Howard Duell,” featuring the work of a leading mid-century Northwest sculptor and painter who lived in Edmonds. Showing through Nov. 20 are “Northwest Arts & Crafts Movement: The Chase Family and Friends,” showcasing the work of a prominent family in Washington state cultural history, and “The Art of Reading,” a collection of works depicting books and the act of reading either as the main subject or hidden away in the periphery of the composition. Museum of Northwest Art: “Arreguín: Painter from the New World” showcases Northwest artist Alfredo Arreguín, one of the most accomplished Latino artists in the nation. Over his long, successful career, Arreguín has addressed his Mexican-American heritage by commemorating historic figures and political activists. The exhibit, curated by Matthew Kangas, runs through Oct. 9 at the museum, 121 S. First St. La Conner.
Camano Island Roaming Artists: The group’s annual show and sale is set for 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Sept. 3-4 at 141 E. Camano Drive. The featured artist will be plein air painter Carey Sorensen. A raffle will be held for a painting by Roger Frost.
Call for artists: The 42nd annual Arts of the Terrace Juried Art Show returns Sept. 24-Oct. 1. A call for artists is open through Aug. 12. Snohomish Film Festival: The second-annual event — in-person this time — is set for 3-8 p.m. Sept. 17 at the Lynnwood Convention Center, 3711 196th St. SW, Lynnwood. Thirty short films, many by local area filmmakers, will be screened, along with Q&A panels by the films’ cast and crew, as well as live readings from script contest finalists.
